Oak Staircase Cladding in Ebbsfleet

This job was in a new build in Ebbsfleet, where we clad the existing staircase with oak treads and primed risers. The work included the rounded bottom step, with the oak following its shape and the new riser continuing around underneath.

We finished the treads with clear varnish to bring out the grain, then gave the risers, strings and newel posts a fresh coat of Benjamin Moore’s Chantilly Lace. The oak works well with the timber handrails and newel caps already in place, and painting the surrounding woodwork brings the whole staircase together.

There was also an ugly pine plug in the front of the bottom newel post that needed sorting out. It stood out against the white paint, so we replaced it as part of the finishing work. A small job, and worth doing when you’ve gone to the trouble of finishing everything around it.
